I'm Sore
I hesitate to even write this post because it's so embarassing. But, since I have no shame, I will anyway. Yesterday my dad watched Noah and Sam so I could go to the gym with my mom and attend her Pilates Reformer class. It's pilates done on some special pilates machine. Anyway, I've never done pilates before and, aside from going on walks with my boys, I rarely do any real exercise. For the last couple of years I have been deluding myself into believing that running after two active babies gives me plenty of exercise. Well, that's a load of crap and I can't fool myself any longer. I am SORE! So I go to this class and there were 3 regulars, including my mom (who, by the way, is AWESOME at pilates). Then there was another new girl, so I was excited because I thought at least I won't be the only fumbling idiot. Then I found out that this so-called "new girl" is a freaking yoga instructor at the gym. Needless to say, I was, in fact, the only fumbling idiot there. I made it through the routine okay (for the most part) but it is now abundantly clear that I am out of shape. To add insult to injury, I watched my mom breeze through the whole hour like a very strong pretzel (in case anyone is wondering, she is not sore today). Moral of the story: I need to join a gym.

I hear you on that one. Doug is training for a marathon and I'm training on, oh NOTHING!! At least you went, it's a start. Now I just need to start, I really want to do a half marathon, but running in the snow isn't my favorite thing. Maybe I'll give pilates a try!
Well I count running up and down my stairs all day as exercise. Doesn't that count???
I joined a gym this week and believe me, I feel your pain!
Oj I hear ya on that one! I can't wait for 6 weeks so I can start working out again.
Amy-No Worries...those classes will kick your bum! They are HARD! Stick with those pilates videos...much eaiser and much less painful to start with. PLUS I am sure your running after your cutest little boys is much better than me sitting on my chair in front of a computer 9 hours a day...can we say flat, big, chair butt anyone?!?
Oh hun....don't be embarassed! Kim Mano once gave me a workout on her machine (she owns one of those fantastic pilates machines) and I was sore the next day. The sad part...the workout was about 15 minutes. Pitiful.
Funny - I just read your comments and saw that someone else knows Kim Mano . . . I know her too, we used to be in the same ward in NYC, small world!:)
Joining a gym is fun! Especially if you have one with babysitting - it's a nice little break and something good to do for yourself while the kids get to play with new toys and people. Even if you just hang out at the juice bar and read magazines, a gym is a good thing. :)
No embarassment necessary, I'm impressed you went and made it through the whole hour! I'm thinking I need to join a gym sometime in the near future...if not just for the free babysitting!
