Model Employee

I do a good job working at Pottery Barn (really, I do), but I keep expecting the managers there to finally decide that I'm just not worth being on the payroll. I must use the phrase "on the payroll" somewhat lightly - one of my bi-weekly paychecks was for $25. And I've definitely given way more money to the company than it has given to me since I've started working there. One of my managers was giving me a hard time the other night because, all in one conversation, I reminded her of my 2 night/week availability (she had scheduled me for 4 - no can do), that I would have to miss the upcoming mandatory staff meeting, and of my 4-week vacation (I'm going to CA on Thursday). She asked if I'd like her to schedule someone to come with me on my trip so I could have a break. :) (In defense of my limited availability, I will remind you how I was completely up-front about it so it's not my fault if I'm scheduled more than was agreed upon).

Then there's the damage to company property. I seem to become destructo-girl when I work. One night I was gift-wrapping something and accidentally cut the phone cord, which was laying beneath the wrapping paper. Oops! Another night I had a little mishap with the fax machine. There was some speculation that I was involved with a broken cabinet too, but that one wasn't my fault (I just wrote the warning note about it so no one would get hurt). Luckily I'm friends with all the managers so everything is just funny but I still wonder sometimes how long they'll put up with me. Especially when I ask them about going down to one night a week. Although the scheduling manager did say that she likes to schedule me on the days she's closing so that must say something, right? Right??

Speaking of Pottery Barn, look at this beautiful ottoman (I HIGHLY recommend the oversized-ottoman-as-a-coffee-table-route for anyone with little kids) which my mom and dad bought us as a housewarming gift.

Thank you SO much, Mom and Dad! We LOVE it!

Hilarious post. Wow. . .sorry to agree, but you are a crappy employee! lol. You most definitely are not following in the steps of your employee-of-the-month big sister. Oh well, I love you anyway!
