Christmas Spectacular

So as I mentioned in my previous post, last night was Ben's company Christmas party. The timing ended up working out really well. We still had to miss dinner, which was a bummer (scarfing McDonald's down in the car on the way to the show just isn't quite the same as sitting down to a steak dinner at a nice Houston restaurant), but oh well. I tried really hard to take my mom's advice to not ruin the evening by getting too stressed wondering whether Sam would wake up or not and I'm really glad that I did (take her advice) because it all worked out great. Stressing out would have been totally pointless. Sam was incredibly cooperative - he went straight to sleep when I put him down right before we left and he delayed his normal 10:30 wake-up by a full hour. So he woke up literally 3 minutes after I got back from driving the babysitter home. Perfect timing!

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular was such a cute show. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to take my boys to it in a few years - I think it would be a really fun Christmas-time tradition. And how much fun would it be to be a Rockette??? Why did I have to quit dance when I was four? (The answer, in case anyone is wondering, is because I was really shy at the time and apparantly the thought of having to dance in front of the parents on Friday practices was too mortifying for me. I had no problem with performances, just practicing in front of people.). Maybe in my next life. ;)

Anyway, the last number of the show was a live Nativity (including real camels and sheep!). I was so pleasantly surprised to see that on the program, especially since so many people and establishments take that out of Christmas these days. It was really refreshing to see something that actually stood up for the true meaning of Christmas and didn't back away from it. I was really curious to see how they would actually perform the scene; the rest of the show is so fun and upbeat. But they transitioned into it really well and made it absolutely beautiful. It even brought a few tears to my eyes.

I have serveral photo ommission regrets in life - one of my biggest is not having a piciture of Amy in her dancing leotard. Whatever she exhibited in shyness she definitely made up for in cuteness! Lest you think I'm biased - her dance instructor said she looked like a procelain doll.

Love the new blog title- you have to show me how to do that!! Aren't the Rockettes amazing!! We saw that show in NYC a few years ago and were amazed. I mean, legs that go on FOREVER! I loved the Nativity scene as well. It was so moving and you really could feel the spirit. I'm glad you had such a great time. Did you wear something sassy?

That's great that the evening went so fabulous for y'all. I'm bummed that Huntsman doesn't do any type of Christmas party or get together whatsoever....we do get a Christmas card with a photo of the entire Huntsman family (like 70 people in all)!!!!! I know that sounds a bit ungrateful, I am grateful, but I love holiday get togethers.

Dad, I still think you're a little bit biased. :)

Shauna, I realized as I was getting ready that I don't have anything sassy! I wore the most boring thing ever. I really need to go shopping. Sadly, I still thought it was fun just to wear something other than jeans.

Shelley, if you lived closer you could have been Ben's dinner date!

I saw the Rockettes many years ago when I was much younger! I have never forgotten that performance. I,too, wanted to be a dancer. My lessons were ballet and tap dancing, but Dad was transferred before I got too far. I still love to see good dancing, and I surely do think that would be a fun family Christmas tradition!
